FEMISE is happy to announce the result of the Steering Committee Renewal for 2009.

According to Article 19 of FEMISE Charter, members of the Steering Committee are renewed by half every year. The term of membership in the committe is 2 years.

This year 11 seats were due for renewal:

From the South 4 seats: Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey.

From the North 7 seats: Germany, Denmark, Spain,  Finland, , UK, Italy and Holland.

Renewal Procedure

Members’ institutes from the countries concerned were invited to present their candidatures, as well as members from the non-represented EU countries: Greece, Malta, Romania and Sweden. After compiling and consolidating the candidatures, the results were as follows:

1. Out of the 11 available seats, 10 members have presented their candidatures from 10 different countries, These candidates were automatically assigned to the ten available seats of their countries.

2. For the 11th seat, that of Spain, two members from the country presented their candidatures, which required a voting process to which all the network were invited to participate.

We are happy to announce that Universidad Autonoma de Madrid presented by Prof. Alejandro Lorca Corrons has been re-elected for this seat after receiving the majority of votes.

Also, we would like to welcome the new member from Malta: Competitive Malta presented by Prof. John Grech.

Finally, we would like to congratulate all the members of the Committee who were renewed for a new term of 2 years.
